A mobile sauna has two systems to evaluate: the hot room and the road vehicle carrying it. The better quote is the one that makes both systems clear before you pay a deposit.
Choose the buying path first
Three routes carry different risk
Completed trailer sauna
The seller supplies the sauna and trailer as one package. Ask who manufactured and certified the completed trailer, then verify its label, VIN, weight ratings, and title documents.
Sauna plus sourced trailer
The sauna builder mounts a structure to your trailer or one sourced separately. Get written responsibility for engineering, attachment, axle loading, certification, warranty, and final road documents.
Used mobile sauna
You inherit both sauna wear and trailer history. Inspect the hot room, stove system, chimney, moisture damage, frame, tires, brakes, lights, coupler, safety chains, VIN, title, and service records.

SaltSaun publishes a $14,995 price for its 6-by-10 model with a standard stove. It describes a welded steel utility trailer with a VIN and Certificate of Origin, lists a 60-day lead time, and says construction and delivery take place at its Redmond, Oregon facility. Those are seller statements. Ask for the actual certification label, final documents, completed weight, payment terms, and state-specific registration path for your unit.

NorthUp Curve XL Mobile
NorthUp currently lists this model at $14,997 with a stove, full assembly, and nationwide delivery. The product page describes an aluminum trailer, a roughly 950-pound completed weight, three 6-foot benches, and seating for 6-8 adults. Treat every number as a seller specification until it appears in your order documents. Confirm the exact stove, freight, completed dimensions, tongue weight, VIN, certification label, warranty, and delivery method.

Minnesota Mobile Sauna Essential
The current buy page starts its 6.5-by-10-foot sauna at $14,900. The base package lists a red-cedar hot room, wood-fired stove, upper and lower benches, board-and-batten exterior, steel roof, and heavy-duty trailer. Delivery is centered on Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin, with buyers outside that area asked to contact the builder. Custom options can change the price quickly, so compare a written base quote with the exact options you need.

Do not accept "street legal" as the whole answer
NHTSA warns that trailers sold in the United States must meet federal safety requirements and that a compliant trailer has a certification label. It advises buyers to check whether the manufacturer is listed in its Vehicle Product Information Catalog. State agencies control titling and registration requirements, so a VIN or seller statement alone does not finish the check.
Manufacturer and certification
Identify the company responsible for the completed trailer. Inspect the federal certification label and compare its manufacturer, VIN, GVWR, GAWR, tire, and date information with the documents.
Completed weight
Get the finished trailer weight and ratings in writing. Ask whether water, stones, wood, batteries, accessories, and personal cargo are included in the published number.
Tow vehicle match
Use the exact vehicle manual, hitch and receiver ratings, payload, passengers, cargo, and trailer tongue weight. Vehicle type alone is not a towing calculation.
State and local rules
Check the DMV for title, registration, plates, brakes, lighting, and inspections. Also check parking, storage, fire, and site rules where the sauna will operate.
Heat system documents
Review the exact stove, chimney, heat-shield, clearance, floor, ventilation, and installation instructions. A road-safe trailer can still have an unsafe hot room.
Insurance and commercial use
Tell the insurer exactly how the trailer will be transported and used. Personal property, road liability, commercial guests, and paid events can require different coverage.

How much does a mobile sauna cost in 2026?
The three current U.S. examples reviewed here start at $14,900, $14,995, and $14,997. Those are published starting prices, not complete project totals. Delivery, upgrades, taxes, registration, insurance, storage, towing equipment, and site work can add cost.
Is every sauna on a trailer legal to tow on public roads?
No. A sauna structure mounted on a trailer is not automatically a compliant road vehicle. Before buying, verify the certification label, VIN, manufacturer information, weight ratings, title documents, and the registration and equipment rules in your state.
Can an SUV tow a mobile sauna?
Possibly, but the sauna seller cannot answer that from the vehicle type alone. Compare the completed trailer weight, tongue weight, axle rating, cargo, passengers, hitch equipment, and the exact tow vehicle manufacturer's limits. Use the lower applicable limit and get qualified help when the numbers are unclear.
Can a mobile sauna be used as a rental business?
It can be operated commercially where local rules and insurance allow, but the purchase alone does not establish demand or profitability. Validate permits, insurance, transport time, setup, cleaning, fuel, storage, payment processing, cancellations, and realistic local demand before treating it as a business investment.
