Almost Heaven Saunas: what to compare before buying

Almost Heaven is not one barrel sauna repeated in different sizes. Its current catalog spans classic barrels, canopy barrels, indoor rooms, infrared cabins, and a Europe-crafted Harvia Collection. Start with the format and installation plan. Then compare exact configurations.

The brand says it has built saunas in West Virginia's Greenbrier Valley since 1977 and joined the Harvia family in 2019. That relationship matters because current kits use Harvia heater packages, but the heater and controls still vary by model and option.

Pinnacle: the compact barrel reference point

Almost Heaven currently lists the Pinnacle as a four-person, 6-by-6-foot barrel. The published configuration uses a 6 kW, 240V, 30A hardwired heater and a separate 120V lighting connection. Its 63.25-inch benches are more useful than the capacity label when you judge comfort.

The product configurator currently offers different lumber, door, window, and heater choices. Confirm which one is in the quoted price and which manuals apply. Do not assume an old Amazon package matches the current direct-sale configuration.

Grandview: more room and more delivery scope

The current Grandview is a 4-to-6-person canopy barrel with a one-foot exterior canopy. Almost Heaven lists 8 or 9 kW electric options and an eligible M3 wood-burning package. The manufacturer also warns that this unit ships by flatbed and publishes an 8-to-12-week lead-time estimate.

That makes delivery access part of the buying decision. Verify the current packed dimensions, truck requirements, unloading responsibility, route from curb to pad, and damage-reporting deadline before ordering.

Indoor rooms and the Harvia Collection

Almost Heaven's catalog now extends beyond its USA-made barrel line. The Harvia Collection is described by the company as crafted in Europe and includes indoor and outdoor cabin designs. Country of origin, construction, heater package, freight, and installation scope can therefore differ across the brand.

If you are comparing an indoor room with a barrel, do not compare capacity and sale price alone. Compare bench dimensions, insulation, glass area, heater and controls, floor requirements, ventilation plan, delivery, and assembly.

The heater is part of the configured kit

Almost Heaven's current FAQ says an electric heater is standard with every sauna it sells and that most kits use a KIP heater sized for the room. Current upgrade options can include KIP manual or digital packages, The Wall, Cilindro, Virta, and Virta Combi. Some larger outdoor models can be configured for wood heat.

That is different from the old advice to immediately replace the included heater. Instead, compare the exact package: heater item number, controls, sensors, stones, power unit, electrical requirements, clearances, and warranty. Changing heaters later can affect fit, controls, electrical work, and the manufacturer's installation requirements.

Warranty: read the exclusions and remedies

Almost Heaven currently advertises a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects on the sauna room. It separately lists one year for heater elements and five years for other heater components.

The company also says the room warranty does not cover normal wear, rot, discoloration, or minor lumber splintering. Read the full warranty that applies on the purchase date. Check who pays shipping, which records are required, whether labor is covered, and how outdoor maintenance affects a claim.

2. What are the current interior and bench dimensions, not just the capacity label?
3. Which construction and heater manuals apply to this configuration?
4. What foundation, drainage, ventilation, and clearance work is required?
5. What are the packed dimensions, freight method, unloading responsibility, and current lead time?
6. What electrical or chimney work must be finished before assembly?
7. What warranty exclusions, maintenance obligations, and shipping costs apply?
